Feel the fear and do it anyway...Ep 2

Weather routing and navigation- my fear of the Orange/Red

So I have developed an obsession

with looking at the wind forecast ( multiple times per day) and am still to understand what it is that drives this obsession

(1) I'm a planner ( or a strong J in Myers Briggs) so I like to know where I'm going to be and when or have a goal and achieve it. In sailing that would mean I would like to be in the Aeolian Islands in Sicily on a particular date, be able to anchor in a particular Bay and feel really comfortable to be able to explore the island

(2) I am a high achiever and hate to fail therefore if I plan a journey based on a certain forecast, I would like that journey to go as I have planned or if I expect to be sailing in a certain wind that matches by current ability I hate to feel out of control in unpredicted conditions. Both examples make me feel like a failure if I the conditions change and I don't meet the goal I have set ( time ) or don't cope well with the changing wind conditions ( capability as a sailor)

Both of these traits are really challenged with sailing as the forecast is hardly ever 100% ( or even 50%). Therefore having the ability to:

(1) Check, adjust and adapt on the fly and...

(2) Accept that the strengths of planning and need for high achievement have already put myself in the best possible position but that there are always things ( especially in sailing) that will make me feel out of control and I need to further adapt my ability to check, adjust and be incredibly flexible to be a valuable crew member.

If anyone else has the same challenges and is able to give me any guidance please dont hesitate to contact me
