Tick....overnight sailing!

Passage ONE: One night Sotogrande, Spain to Aquadulce Spain. Departure time 6pm, Conditions 20knts, sailing. My husband Iain die first shift until 1am. By then we are motoring. It's our first night on the boat and first experience using the new radar. We really do not have a perception yet on the distances when another boat turns up on the radar. 2 am the mist rolls, no moon and it gets darker, colder and wetter. I have no idea why I didn't wake up Iain but I did't and I made it through my shift. Even when the sun comes up the mist remains. I did it!

Passage TWO: Two nights Ibiza, Spain to Casaletta, Sardinia. Departure time 10.30am, however bottom of Sardinia we get Reef rope stuck in pulley with sail bag. Anchor in bay to rectify, depart 3.30pm from the bottom of Ibiza.

Conditions great, sailing until 9pm when wind drops. first night motoring, uneventful. Day two wind gets up 11am, was supposed to be no higher than 25 knts however gusts reached 36 knts and swell 4m. I was not sick but found it difficult to move from my spot in the cockpit. When will it stop? I sleep 9pm and thank goodness wind drops, motor on by 11pm and my shift is motoring.

Passage THREE: One night, two days Villasimius, Sardinia to Favignana Island, West Coast of Sicily. Wind prediction was light however that morning it came up well so we decided to just head out 4 days before planned. We were determined to sail all the way. Was beautiful, Majority of winds 15-20 knts. Of the passage time of 30 hours we motored for 7 hours during the night. Uneventful, aided by a full moon and the newly installed AIS.
