Our new home....the work begins!

Updated: Jun 6, 2022

While I extended my stay in NZ to spend time with Mikaela ( my daughter), my parents and family Iain arrived in La Linea de Concepcion, Cadiz Spain 2 weeks after he left Sardinia to begin work on Jethro. Lots to do to turn this boat into a full time cruiser for us.

We decided to do the work in the South of Spain by Gibralta where we were familiar with the place, had some contacts, and Gibralta is close where the language for us is easier. However, unlike when we were down here in December the new summer season is upon us and its getting busy with many others wanting to get their boats ready. Its tough for Iain to get people to turn up on time and to get some firm quotes on various works that need to be done.

On May 10th, I arrive direct from NZ after 48 hours of flying and waiting at airports. My new home is Jethro and we are in Marina Alcaidesa.

The work begins

(1) Find out whats on the boat and where all the storage spots are

(2) Clean

(3) Move 9 M3 of goods from that we sent from the Netherlands onto the boat

(4) Strat work on our must haves, organise materials, and if needed expertise

(5) The list is long.......

The days have flown by and I am exhausted every day which is just awesome. I feel like I have a purpose, am working both physically and mentally and it feels great.

And to top if off we have met some amazing people. Petra and Wolfgang from SV Gian who have a Jeanneau 54 DS and David Fansler ( Youtube: Sailing Solo at 70) who is about to cross the Atlantic solo back to North Carolina USA.
